Sunflowers in the Barossa

In the Barossa they grow grapes.  I, however, grow sunflowers.  All twenty stand proud right now, following the sun.

Having moved many times, my one constant has been the sunflower.  Buy the seeds, plant then water and reap radiant, smiling sunflowers.  I compare photos of the ones I had in South Africa – bright and beaming yellow splashes the size of my head!  And I have yet to identify the bees that expertly extract nectar and pollen from my sunflowers (2000 species of native bees in Australia).

With different countries, homes and life circumstances, my positive flower has remained the same.  It fulfills my need for something that never changes, a secure spot that’s far removed from the challenges and changes of life.  A visual, tactile permanent presence

On difficult days, they seem to say Look Up!

And perhaps that’s the message.  They look up to the sun, I must look up daily to my Heavenly creator to find life, purpose and peace.

The seed of faith and the watering of the Word will bring brightness and joy to the soul – like a sunflower!
